Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
and the Justice System
Wednesday, June 4, 2008 | 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP | 1301 Avenue of the Americas, 22nd Floor, New York, NY
The Dewey & LeBoeuf FASD Advocacy Project is pleased to present this seminar on the intersection
of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and the justice system. Prenatal exposure to alcohol can
cause specific types of brain damage that make a person much more likely to get into trouble with
the law. The number of people with FASD in the criminal and juvenile justice systems is high, and an
understanding of FASD among judges, attorneys and other justice system professionals is essential
to helping these individuals receive fair treatment and appropriate services.
